Soroptimist International is committed to:
- Service to local, national and international communities by active participation in decision-making at all levels of society
Soroptimist International is a worldwide organisation of classified service clubs for women, founded in America in 1921. The first clubs in Europe were chartered in 1924. There are now some 95,000 members in 112 countries and territories. This makes us the world's largest classified service organisation for women.
Soroptimist International has a General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and Special Relations with United Nations Agencies and the World Health Organisation.
Members in a Soroptimist club are representative of a wide range of occupations in business and the professions. Each club chooses projects as it wishes to provide help in the local community or further afield in six main areas -

- Education
- Environment
- Health
- Human Rights and the Status of Women
- International Goodwill and Understanding
